Production monitoring

Production monitoring creates a digital image of production sites and the progress of production at these sites. It thus forms the basis for both operational production management and production optimization in the medium and long term. Data obtained both from automatic data collection from machines and other devices, as well as from production terminals and manual workplaces, optionally linked with data from other modules of the MES system and possibly data loaded from ERP systems, present a comprehensive view of the production process to management with the possibility of immediate response to deviations and also ongoing optimizations.

Production monitoring

The basis of production monitoring is the Performance Analyzer module, which provides management with a view of current events at individual workplaces, as well as a view of history and its analysis. The main monitored information from production sites include:

  • The progress of production orders - start, end, interruption, modes of their progress, the number of pieces produced, the amount and types of scrap.
  • Machine Utilization Efficiency OEE/TEEP - Downtime, Speed, Quality and Reasons and Causes of Losses
  • Technological settings of machines – running programs, tools, range of technological parameter settings
  • Worksite presence and efficiency - operators, adjusters, maintenance
  • Meeting performance standards – expected/planned production time vs. real time

The information is intended for both production foremen and production managers, as well as process and industrial engineers, technologists and lean managers, as well as workers from other departments whose activities are also related to ensuring smooth and efficient production, such as logistics and material supply departments, tool preparation, maintenance or quality . To a significant extent, this information can also contribute to the evaluation of the economy of production by the financial or commercial department.

The basis of quality information is quality data collection, which relies on online connection and monitoring of machines and production lines, as well as data entered by operators at production terminals.

In the area of ​​data collection, we rely on our own full-fledged solution based on communication with machine control systems and reading data from sensors and electrical circuits using modern communication protocols and IoT technologies, as well as the ability to connect older machines and production technologies with older systems or electrical installations, viz. In the field of manual data entry by operators, we rely on the very popular Field Client module, which is an ideal tool for manual data entry by operators due to its simplicity and clarity.

In the case of production monitoring, the Performance Analyzer module is very often supplemented by customers with the Plant View module for online data visualization on large screens and the Mobile Plant View module for data visualization on mobile devices. If you need a more detailed view of the progress of monitored data from machines or monitoring the consumption of electricity or consumption of other media, the Plant Monitor module is a suitable extension. If there is a need to assign data to individual products in more detail and create a record of their production in the form of their family tree, the Traceability module is a suitable extension.

The system can also be supplemented with automatic sending of SMS and e-mails to support the possibility of a quick response of the relevant personnel to the events that arise.

To monitor production orders, integration and data exchange with ERP systems are often used, with the aim of automatically loading planned orders and, possibly, also returning production from monitoring back to the ERP system.
